Reconnect to yourself, your creativity, and the healing energy of the ocean on this soul-soothing one-day retreat on the Cornish coast.

Hosted at the stylish SeaSpace Aparthotel in Newquay, this immersive day experience weaves together nature, movement, mindfulness, and creative expression to help you feel fully present, restored, and inspired.

The Journey:

10.00am – Ocean Connection Beach Walk with Lizzi Larbalestier
Allow Lizzi - a certified Blue Health Coach, to take us on a guided walk down to Porth beach, helping us to connect, observe, and absorb the ocean in front of us. One of my favourite quotes from Lizzi about her work: ‘By connecting with water – you are improving cognitive, psychological, social, spiritual and emotional health… and this feeling of “wellness” reminds us to value and protect our blue spaces all the more #winwin.’

12pm – Creative journaling session with Artist & Poet Bella Wilhm
Following the incredible session from Lizzi, Bella will then guide you through a gentle creative writing session exploring reflection, self-connection and creative expression.

🍽️ 1pm – Nourishing Lunch by Tallo
Tuck into a delicious buffet-style lunch curated by Tallo — a vibrant Italian-American fusion restaurant at SeaSpace. Expect fresh, flavourful, and deeply satisfying food that fuels you for the creative afternoon ahead. (Vegetarian & Vegan options available)

🎨 2pm – Driftwood Painting with Gemma Lessinger
Led by artist and retreat host Gemma Lessinger, you’ll be guided through a 2-hour driftwood painting session inspired by the coastal textures and colours around you. You will also have the option of exploring ocean sunset tones should you wish. Using natural materials and expressive techniques, this creative practice is all about freedom, connection and self-expression — no prior experience needed.

🍹 4pm – Yoga Nidra and Sound Bath with Charlotte Stephens
Yoga Nidra literally means ‘yogic sleep’, if you have not experienced this before, we lay back on the yoga mat, nestled with bolsters, blankets and eye pillows and allow Charlottes soothing voice to guide us into a deeply restorative restful state. She then ends her sessions with sound bath, which again if you have not experienced is just blissful, gentle sound being played by Charlotte while you relax. A heavenly end to the day.

Extend your retreat into the weekend with an exclusive 15% off accommodation at SeaSpace (details provided after booking).

FAQs – The Art of Being Day Retreat

Do I need to be good at art or yoga to come?
Absolutely not. This retreat is designed for all levels — whether you’ve never picked up a paintbrush or stepped on a yoga mat before. The focus is on connection, expression, and restoration, not perfection.

What should I bring?
Just wear comfortable clothing suitable for walking, yoga, and painting — layers are ideal for the Cornish coast. Please also bring a notebook or journal for the beach session, a water bottle, and swimwear if you fancy a post-retreat sea dip or spa session.

Can I stay at the hotel?
Yes! Retreat guests will receive an exclusive 15% off accommodation at SeaSpace. We’ll send a discount code and booking link in your confirmation email, so you can turn your retreat into a relaxing overnight escape.

Where do we meet?
We’ll meet at 10am at the SeaSpace Hotel reception. The full address and directions will be provided in your welcome email the week of the retreat.

Can I come alone?
Absolutely. Many guests attend solo and this retreat has been thoughtfully designed to feel warm, inclusive, and connection-focused. You’ll leave feeling creatively and emotionally nourished — and possibly with a few new friends too.
