A Bespoke Seascape That Speaks Your Story

Whether it’s the beach where you said ‘I do’, the coastline you visit on escape, or the fabric that reminds you of home—your commission starts with your story. I sculpt it with texture, using sand, worn fabric, and upcycled surfboard materials to create a piece that carries your memory in every wave.

“We love our collection of paintings so much, they bring back so many happy memories of holidays and cherished times. I just love the texture, it makes them feel so immersive..” L. Richards

Bring Your Story to Life

Inspired by my experience in the Fashion and Surf industry, I weave your story into the canvas—whether using vintage fabrics, a scrap from a cherished dress, or surf-worn swimwear. This tactile inclusion transforms your commission into an emotional heirloom.

A bespoke painting can be the ultimate gift for your loved one to celebrate a special moment, or a completely bespoke piece of art to bring a memory to life in your home.

The Commission Experience - A Journey Together

  1. Discovery Call/Emails: You share your story—your place, your moment, your personal materials you may want me to weave into the painting.

  2. Reference Material Sourcing & Design: I research your chosen shoreline, using my drone for photography and video. I gather sustainable elements—sand, driftwood, ghost nets, or your personal items—and begin developing your custom design.

  3. Creative Updates: Prefer to follow the process? I send regular progress photos (or video clips) so you can witness your piece evolve.

  4. Collector’s Finish: Your painting arrives with a signed Collector’s Note, plus a keepsake sample of any materials used.

Stories from the Shore

There are many ways in which I can create a bespoke piece for you. Examples of recent commissions include:

  • “I Do” Waves: A drone‑captured wedding moment translated into sweeping, sculptural seascapes textured with wedding-dress lace.

  • Childhood Beachscape: Layered sand and playful textiles transformed a family beach into a childhood memory on canvas.

  • Sunset + Dress Fragment: A dress remnant woven into sunset hues across surf-sprayed fibres.

  • Surfers Paradise: Offcuts of surfboard fibreglass sculpted into a breaking wave, using an old, retired surfboard as the canvas.

"I had seen prints of Gemma’s work in Cornwall and always loved her style, so my husband commissioned a full size piece of her work illustrating Mawgan Porth beach.  This is now installed in our new extension where it looks absolutely stunning - I cannot stop looking at the detail and texture of the waves which are completely absorbing.  Thank you Gemma!" J Gammage
