Turn a beach you love into a textured artwork.
I take on a limited number of shoreline commissions each year, working closely with collectors to transform meaningful coastlines into tactile, one-of-a-kind paintings.
Many begin with a specific beach - somewhere tied to family memories, favourite holidays, or a place that simply feels like home. Using aerial shoreline references and conversations about the atmosphere of the location, I translate these places into layered compositions that balance recognisable form with a sense of calm and movement.
Each piece develops slowly in the studio through multiple layers of paint, reclaimed textiles and shoreline-found materials, creating sculptural surfaces that echo the rhythm and quiet power of the sea.
The result is a personal artwork connected to a place that means the most to you.

Every commission is uniquely tailored. The level and type of texture, and the way fabric is integrated into the composition, can be adapted to your preference - from subtle hints woven into the waves to more pronounced material presence across the shoreline and surf.
Materials can be drawn from my own collection of reclaimed textiles, or we can incorporate fabrics and meaningful materials you wish to include.

“I Do” Waves: A drone‑captured wedding moment translated into sweeping, sculptural seascapes textured with wedding-dress lace.
Childhood Beachscape: Layered sand and playful textiles transformed a family beach into a childhood memory on canvas.
Sunset + Dress Fragment: A dress remnant woven into sunset hues across surf-sprayed fibres.
Surfers Paradise: Offcuts of surfboard fibreglass sculpted into a breaking wave, using an old, retired surfboard as the canvas.

Commissioned Repurposed Surfboard Piece

To protect the quality and integrity of my work, I accept no more than four commissions per quarter.
Commissioned pieces are individually priced based on scale, materials and complexity.
Commission Investment
Each commission is uniquely tailored in scale, material integration and complexity. The following ranges provide a guide:
Bespoke Works (Smaller Scale): £1,500 – £3,000
Statement Pieces (Large Rooms / Offices): £3,500 – £7,500+
Commercial & Site-Responsive Projects: Investment on request
A non-refundable deposit is required to secure a commission slot, with the remaining balance due upon completion.
If availability for the current quarter is full, you are welcome to join the waitlist for a future opening.

About the Artist
Gemma Lessinger is a Cornwall-based artist celebrated for her richly textured seascapes, crafted using repurposed materials gathered from the coast—including surfboard fiberglass, ghost fishing nets, and sand. Drawing on her background in fashion, she also weaves pre-loved fabrics and discarded clothing into her process, transforming them into tactile, abstract landscapes that echo the rhythm and emotion of the sea.
