Gemma Lessinger is a contemporary artist based in Cornwall, creating richly textured seascapes inspired by the coastlines that stay with us long after we've left them.

Rooted in a lifelong connection to the coastline, her work explores memory, place and the restorative power of the ocean. Rather than simply depicting a landscape, each painting seeks to capture how a shoreline feels - the quiet rhythm of the tide, the familiarity of returning, and the moments that reconnect us with ourselves.

Following a twenty-year career in fashion buying and product development, Gemma developed a deep understanding of textile construction, materiality and surface. Combined with her longstanding passion for photography and aerial perspectives, these influences now shape her artistic practice, where carefully selected textiles and found coastal materials are layered into sculptural paintings rich in depth, movement and memory.

Texture is central to her process. Layers of pigment, fabric and natural materials create tactile surfaces that invite viewers to look closer, revealing stories held within every fragment. Many works incorporate meaningful personal textiles or locally sourced materials, adding another layer of memory and connection.

Alongside original collections and private commissions, Gemma collaborates with hotels, interior designers, brands and cultural organisations to create site-responsive artworks, creative experiences and thoughtfully curated collections that bring the calming presence of the ocean into everyday spaces.

Her work can be found in private collections, luxury hospitality settings and corporate environments internationally.
