10% of the sale of this piece will be donated to The National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow to support their ocean conservation work

From her pop-up studio at The National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow, Gemma Lessinger presents "Porthcothan Bay" a tactile exploration of one of North Cornwall's most serene beaches.

“This is a childhood favourite of mine, I used to come here very often as a child on holidays, it being one of my Dads old haunts with his motorbike crew back in the 70’s. It holds so many cherished memories of then, and more recently of swimming down on the left side of the beach at low tide, the area I focused on for this piece.” Gemma Lessinger

Crafted on a 30cm x 30cm wood board, this piece employs acrylics combined with reclaimed, upcycled materials—such as local sand, end-of-line tea bag paper, and surfboard fibreglass offcuts—to bring the scene to life. The wave formations are sculpted using fragments of fishing rope washed up on the estuary, finely cut and integrated into the paint.

Framed in a 47cm x 47cm white handcrafted panel frame by a local artisan.

If you are interested in visiting the studio to view the piece, or would like a zoom or video call to do a virtual viewing, please contact Gemma.

Full money back guarantee if the piece does not work in your home once you receive it. I know selecting art is tricky until it is in situ, so will do all I can to help find the right piece for you.
