The Estuary & Seven Bays Collection

A new body of work created in situ during Gemma Lessinger’s residency at The National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow.

Painting from a bay window that looked directly onto the Camel Estuary, Gemma was immersed in the ever-changing light, tides, and textures of the Cornish coastline. This exclusive collection of ten original textured seascapes captures the essence of Padstow: three pieces dedicated to the shifting moods of the estuary, and one for each of the iconic Seven Bays.

Each painting is richly layered using repurposed materials gathered from the coast—fibreglass offcuts, old fishing rope, and local sand—sculpted to evoke the movement of waves and the contours of the shoreline. A tactile tribute to North Cornwall’s wild beauty, designed for ocean lovers, art collectors, and curators seeking work that speaks of place, process, and sustainability.
