From her pop-up studio at The National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow, Gemma Lessinger presents "Constantine Bay," a tactile exploration of one of North Cornwall's most serene beaches.Crafted on a 30cm x 30cm wood board, this piece employs acrylics combined with reclaimed, upcycled materials—such as local sand, end-of-line tea bag paper, and surfboard fibreglass offcuts—to bring the scene to life.The rocks and wave formations are sculpted using fragments of fishing rope washed up on the estuary, finely cut and integrated into the paint.
The artwork's textured surface evokes the movement of waves and the contours of the shoreline, offering a tactile experience that draws viewers into the coastal landscape.
