'Woven By The Tide' Original Textured Painting

"Woven by Tide" captures the hypnotic moment of a wave breaking at Praa Sands in Cornwall, white foam tumbling over luminous turquoise waters. It's a study of rhythm and energy, where movement and stillness exist together in a single frame.

This piece is built with layers of personal and sustainable materials, each one holding a story. The undertexture of the water is formed from my grandmother's tablecloth, a nod to her belief in my creativity. The cresting wave itself is underpinned by surfboard fibreglass, then topped with paint blended with fragments of fishing net and rope collected from Cornish beaches — transforming ocean waste into something beautiful. The waters above the wave are enriched with swimwear offcuts from a local eco-brand in Newquay, tying the work back to the community and culture of the coast.
