Based on the iconic beach of Fistral in Newquay, this large-scale shoreline piece highlights my aerial seascape style at its fullest expression. Sand gathered from the beach is blended directly into the acrylic paint, so the piece is literally infused with elements of Fistral itself.
The white water is built up using offcuts of fibreglass from surfboard manufacturing, given to me by Newquay-based surfboard shaper Rochfort Customs. This is not only a link to Cornwall's iconic surf culture, but also helps Rochfort Customs move one step closer to a zero-waste process.
At 153cm wide, this is one of the largest original pieces I create — a genuine statement piece for a large wall, designed to anchor a room the way the real coastline anchors a view.
