This original artwork is painted directly onto a factory second wooden bellyboard, handcrafted by Dick Pearce in Newquay. I love using these seconds as a canvas — their imperfections carrying stories of their own while connecting the artwork back to Cornwall’s surf heritage.

Depicting Kynance Cove at a magical tidal moment, this piece captures the secluded stretch of sand that appears as the tide drops, with the iconic Sugarloaf Rock standing proudly against the turquoise waters. Rich with texture, the rocks are built from upcycled fishing nets and rope fragments washed up on the shore, while the sandy beach is embedded with real grains of sand I gathered from my holiday there — salvaged from the bottom of my beach bag, now part of the artwork itself.
