'Holywell Surf' Original Textured Painting

When I returned to Holywell Bay one morning, the sea was in perpetual motion — every wave folding into the next, restless and alive. Holywell Surf is my response to that energy: not a snapshot, but a feeling of movement captured in texture and shape.

I built this piece by layering reclaimed fibreglass off-cuts from a Newquay surfboard shaper, letting the material do as much of the storytelling as the paint. Up close, the surface holds the curl and lift of the wave; from a distance, it feels like the Atlantic itself is shifting across the panel.

At 35 cm × 10 cm (framed to 47.5 cm × 22 cm), this is a painting that fits beautifully into smaller spaces.
