'Breaking Wave at Perran' Original Textured Painting

This piece grew out of a morning spent standing on Perranporth Beach, watching the Atlantic just before the wave bursts open and rushes toward the sand. I was drawn not to the aftermath, but to that moment when everything feels possible, full of energy and promise.

I layered the crest here using fibreglass salvaged from a surfboard shaper in Newquay, building real three-dimensional texture so the wave doesn’t just sit on the panel - it seems to rise from it. There’s a subtle lift beneath your fingertips and a real sensation of motion in the light as you move around it.

At 35 cm × 10 cm (framed to 47.5 cm × 22 cm), this is a piece that brings quiet moments of reflection as much as it rewards being placed where it can catch the light. It arrives ready in a hand-crafted Newquay tray frame that feels like it belongs to the work, not beside it.
