A building wave, rolling in across the bay is one of the best sights in Cornwall. Watergate Bay is a surfers paradise and watching them take on the swell as it builds to that perfect wave is mesmerising. On this day in particular the wave was breaking at various different points, creating a beautiful mix of frothy white water and thin clean white lines.
I have used grains of sand and finely cut pieces of rope washed up on the shoreline to mix through the paint, allowing me to build the subtle texture of the wave in this piece.
