A restorative creative retreat in Cornwall at Melancoose

Join Cornwall-based textural seascape artist Gemma Lessinger for an immersive full-day creative retreat at Melancoose - a beautiful woodland wellness space near Newquay designed for slowing down, reconnecting and breathing more deeply.

Inspired by the natural elements and our emotional connection to the landscape around us, this Elemental Retreat Day is designed to gently reconnect you with creativity, nature and yourself through movement, sensory observation, tactile making and restorative stillness. This is not about artistic perfection. It’s about presence. Creativity. Atmosphere. And creating space to simply be.

Throughout the day, we’ll explore the calming influence of water, the grounding energy of earth, the spaciousness of air and the transformative nature of fire - not through rigid structure or performance, but through simple, meaningful experiences designed to help you feel more connected and creatively restored.

What to Expect

The day includes:–

  • Grounding morning yoga with Charlotte from Embodied Self Healing

  • An artist-led elemental walk exploring texture, water, movement and sensory connection within the landscape

  • Seasonal nourishing lunch

  • An immersive creative session with Gemma inspired by the coastline, texture and the elements

  • Woodland spa time

There will be slower moments through the day for reflection, conversation and restoration throughout the day. The creative session will focus on intuitive, process-led creativity in a welcoming and supportive environment suitable for all abilities. No previous creative experience is needed.

Whether you already see yourself as creative, work within the arts, or simply feel drawn to slowing down and trying something new, this retreat is designed to feel welcoming, calm and genuinely connective. One of the intentions behind these experiences is to create space for people to reconnect - not only with creativity itself, but with each other too.

A place where you can step away from daily pressure, spend time in nature and rediscover the restorative power of making something by hand.
