This piece focuses on the infamous swell at Polzeath. Surfers flock from all across the world to ride the waves that roll in at this Cornish shore. Gemma has built the texture in the waves by using offcuts of fibreglass from surfboard manufacturing. Once coated in paint these offcuts allow Gemma to sculpt the breaking wave. These offcuts are non-recyclable so would end up in landfill if not re-purposed into her work.
