'Polzeath Surf' Re-purposed Dick Pearce Bellyboard

£800.00

Focusing on the surfing mecca of Polzeath in Cornwall, this upcycled wood bellyboard captures the patiently waiting surfers in the line up. Swell rolling in with a textured breaking wave down the length of the board.

120cm x 30cm x 0.9cm wood Dick Pearce Belly Board

Un-framed

All wood Dick Pearce bellyboards follow templates and designs that have been passed down through the generations. Each bellyboard is unique - individually handcrafted and as such there are some that do make the cut for the shop floor. I have used one of these seconds as a canvas for this piece.

I have re-purposed offcuts of fibreglass from surfboard manufacturing to build the crest of the wave. This has created the illusion of the wave breaking off the surface out at the viewer.

I have used acrylic paint, sand and fibre glass to create this piece.

Please note - this piece is no longer rideable as a bellyboard, it is a piece of wall art.
