'Mother Ivey's Bay Shoreline' Original Textured Painting

£3,000.00

Mother Ivey’s Bay on the Trevose Head near Padstow is a turquoise haven. Even on the darkest of days the waters here look azure blue and take your breath away. The day that this piece focuses on, it was one of the hottest days of the year. Getting down to the beach at sunrise, the air already warm on your skin, Gemma spent the morning swimming up and down this tranquil shoreline. It takes her straight back to that moment, she hopes it brings your hot summers day memories to life as well.

As with all Gemma’s pieces, this painting is a textural ode to this beautiful beach, with sand from the very shore helping to build the depth and texture. The wave has been sculpted from repurposed offcuts of fibreglass from a surfboard shaper in Newquay, turning these scraps of surfboard into treasure for Gemma, saving them from ending up on landfill.

Feel the sun on your face, the salt drying on your skin, sand between your toes. Let this piece bring the peace of Cornwall to you where ever you are.
